Privacy Consent

The Online Professional English Network (OPEN) Program (the “Program”) is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and administered by FHI 360.  FHI 360 collects and processes your personal information on behalf of the Program to manage your use of the OPEN website, account creation and participation in the OPENCommunity of Practice (COP), and/or to facilitate support for MOOC camps, and is committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information.

1.  What we need

On behalf of the Program, the information we collect from you includes both required and optional data such as:  Name, e-mail address(es), country of residence, city of residence, profession, username, and password.

We also use cookies to automatically collect and store information to improve your browsing experience by remembering your actions and preferences, and to facilitate aggregate analysis of website traffic.  You can control or delete cookies as you wish; for details, see https://www.aboutcookies.org. You can delete all cookies that are already on your computer and you can set most browsers to prevent them from being placed. If you do this, however, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit a site and some services and functionalities may not work.

2.  Why we need it

The lawful basis for FHI 360 to collect your personal information is the legitimate interest of FHI 360 and the U.S. Department of State.  We need your personal information to facilitate your participation in the COP. 

3.  What we do with it

FHI 360 will only use your personal information for the purposes for which it was collected, unless we reasonably consider that we need to use it for another reason and that reason is compatible with the original purpose.  Your personal information may be shared with FHI 360 staff members who legitimately need the information to support your participation in the program, with the U.S. Department of State and relevant U.S. Embassies, and with other program participants who are members of the COP and may view required or optional information that you provide.

4. How long we keep it

FHI 360 will keep your personal information for as long as we need it to fulfill the purposes for which we initially collected it.

5.  Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Review the data we hold about you at any time by logging in to your COP account;
  • Request correction of any data that is not personally editable by you using your COP account;
  • Request that we stop using all or part of your personal information;
  • Request that we delete or remove personal information;

You may withdraw your consent to this data collection and processing at any time.  To exercise your rights, send written notice to FHI 360, referencing the OPEN Program:
